The Red Wine Cask edition marks the beginning of Spirits of Salud, a first expression that defines both origin and ambition.
At its core lies the philosophy of Ichiro Akuto, who sources exceptional whiskies from across Scotland, Ireland, the United States and Canada. These are carefully blended with Chichibu Malt & Grain, before being left to mature for several years in Chichibu, where cold winters and warm summers shape their character and depth.
For this edition, the whisky is finished in selected red wine casks, adding layered notes of dark fruit, gentle tannins and a subtle warmth. The influence is refined, enhancing the blend while preserving its balance.
As the first release under Spirits of Salud, this expression sets the tone for what is to come, a collection driven by craftsmanship, patience and a constant pursuit of something beyond the ordinary.
Nose: Reminiscent of a fine patisserie, with notes of almond cream, fudge, rich chocolate, candied violets and dried pear.
Taste: A gently sweet arrival, mirroring the nose with layered malt and chocolate tones.
Finish: Dry and elegant, with hints of red pepper, dark chocolate, allspice and a touch of cinnamon lingering.
